Hello! The Meine Liebe GBA Dating Game was released earlier than the manga. Most of the people in Kagami loved the game before moving on to the manga and the anime, and most of us also "sucked" at this game in one way or another. xD That is why babysyusuke, Biske, shereen, and I, nikki hiiragizawa, decided to make a little walkthrough of the game. This will not contain exact how to's. Instead this will explain some of the basic concepts of the game, a rundown of the guys' personalities, and how to be in their favor. I repeat, sometimes, even if you follow this guide all the way to the end, there will be some mishaps, like bombs, weird endings, etc. It's up to you to make this game successful and enjoyable (eyecandy..hahah...). So please, read on. ^_^
Introduction. The GBA game was drawn by Kaori Yuki, the same person who created Angel Sanctuary so the graphics are really pretty. In this game, you will be acting as Erika Klause, the heroine of the story. You are a new student at Rostentolz Academy, and after meeting your three "friends" namely, Wilhelmine, August, and Marin, you come face to face with the Meine Liebe guys (Orpherus, Eduard, Camus, Ludwig, Naoji, Isaac) one by one. Your goal is to date and make one of these guys (or maybe 2 or more, if you're daring xD) fall in love with you and meet you during the graduation dance at the end of the game. This works like Tokimeki Memorial, but this time, it's the guys you are dating. ^_^

B. Starting the Game
Here, you have to enter your name. The first box must contain the last name and the second box must contain the first name. You can shift from katakana to English using the spacebar. For beginners, I suggest making an English name so you will know when they are addressing you. I find it fun when the guys start calling you by your first name (kyaa~). After that, hit the Enter key to proceed.
After entering your name, you wil be asked to choose your zodiac sign (represented by the symbols)and your bloodtype. Before choosing this, you already must have the "guy" in mind since your sign and bloodtype will affect the guys/girls' affection for you.
This part will give you your "fortune" at the start of the game. The game will be easy or hard depending on the tarot card you get. Some will lessen the girls' affection for you, make you too stressed, or make you too fat! The Moon Card, for example, increases your stress. After confirmation you will find yourself attending the opening ceremony of Rosenstolz Academy. Here you will meet your three "friends" Wilhelmine, August, and Marin. Their profile will be given later i the game. As you converse, Wilhelmine suddenly goes "Kyaaa!~" Wonder why that is...
Why it's the Strahl candidatesof course! Wilhelmine and Marin are quite bent on getting one of the Strahls, ne? After much ado over the guys, the girls invite you to a tea party, and soon, a very exhausted you finally finds her way to her room.
Before you can play the game, you have to know which is which. There are a lot of things to do in this game and if you miss one little detail, you're really in for it ^^. So, let us review the basic window that we always see. Refer to the picture above for the explanations to follow.
1. The figure of a person on the far left is your figure. If you stress yourself too much, you get super thin. You can also get very fat if you always cook or sleep. Because of these, you sometimes cannot wear the clothes that your date likes so much, and it will deduce points from you. Always maintain your figure. If you get too thin or fat, sleeping or exercising a little might work.
2a. The number 116 there beside your figure represents your health. If you get it too low, you'll get sick and will be unable to do stuff (you'll just sleep).
2b. The number 051 refers to your appearance. Camus likes pretty girls, so make sure you get that really up for him and for other guys, too. ^^.
2c. The number 000 refers to your stress. If you get that really high, you'll fail in almost anything you do. However, stress can somtimes be helpful, like when meeting Camus (you'll see in a while xD).
3. Let's move on to other numbers. These numbers represent your level of skills in certain fields.
From the first row on the right, you can see 3 020. These are in order: studies, art, and sports.
From the second row on the right, 030 stands for appearance/elegance, 020 stands for home economics/home science, and 021 stands for social skills.
Below these numbers are some icons, which you will click from time to time in order to increase certain areas. These icons are, in order: studies (pencil), art (paint palette), sports (ball), home science (sewing machine), elegance and beauty (lipstick), social skills (2 faces), sleep (pillow), and club (school facade).
NOTE: The skills you will increase will depend on which guy you are after. I will include the requirements to get them in their profiles later on. Also, the club you will join will depend on who's guy you're after, too, since they are members of different clubs and some events occur only if you are a co-member of his. 4. Let's move to the numbers below the icons: 1935/9/29. That is the present date. It helps you remember if you'll have a date the next day, or how far away Christmas is.
5. There are yet more icons below your figure on the left. You use the telephone to call and arrange dates. The empty space beside the phone is where a heart will appear if you have a date for that day. you have to click on the heart to attend the date or else your date will get mad! The pamphlet below the phone shows you the "hottest"dating spots as well as the movies shown for the month/week. You have to view this pamphlet every now and then to see new dating spots. The empty space beside the pamhplet is where your letter set for Isaac will be placed once you meet him. You can only contact him thru letters. Lastly, the bed beside the empty space is where you will learn about your friends and potential boyfriends. ^^
VIEWING PROFILES AND RELATIONSHIP LEVELS
Before dating your new friends, both guys and girls, I strongly suggest that you view their profiles as you meet them. Viewing the profiles allows you to give them a gift on their birthdays. I advise viewing Orphe's and Lui's profiles right after you meet them since their birthday occurs one-two months after school starts.
When you click on the bed icon in your main window, the school nurse Franziska will appear and will give you two options.
The first option will give you a menu for viewing character profiles. I have translated the names in this image for ease of viewing. Their names will always appear in that order, but I suggest memorizing how their names are spelled so that when only a few people are shown in your menu, or you summon this menu during your summer vacation in the villa (for calling dates), you'll know who's who.
The second option will summon a menu that will tell you how your friends and potential boyfriends feel about you. A scale is found on top, represented by faces, and a relationship bar for girls (pink) and boys (blue) is found at the bottom. At times when you have many things to do (date, date, date) or when you don't need to view any profile, I suggest that you save your game first, view their relationships, and load the previously saved game, so that you won't waste time looking at it often.
DATING AND WALKING HOME
A. Dating
What is a dating game without dates? Although some of them will ask you out eventually, you need to work hard at first to gain their trust and affection. ^^ So, you ask them out. Whe you click on the phone icon, a menu with the names will appear. I strongly suggest that you SAVE here so you won't waste time inviting someone who doesn't like to go out (especially with your girlfriends, who are sometimes very picky).
Pick the person you want to call (remember, you have to date the girls, too!) and talk to them.
If you are dating one of the girls, a calendar will appear since you will be the one to arrange the date. A heart on the calendar represents a pre-arranged date, and a gift box on the date represents a birthday of someone. The encircled dates simply means the days wherein you can control what you do day by day. Those without circles are the days where you choose just one activity and continue doing it for one whole week (i.e. studying). Anyway, don't mind those stuff. ^^;;
If you are dating a guy, he will set the date so you don't have to worry about that.
After that, you get to choose the venue (for both guys and girls). They prefer certain spots to go, so make sure you know about those when you ask for a date. The pictures of venues will show up once you highlight their names. Some of the date spots will appear seasonally or when you view the pamphlet in your main window. When you go on a date, you will choose between your five dresses (how poor xD) which changes every season. However their attire type stay the same (i.e. the third dress will always be traditional dresses, etc). Each guy and girl prefers one type of clothing, so make sure you know what your date likes or else he or she will make weird facial expression xD. If you are too thin or too fat, you can't wear some of the dresses.
Note: Sometimes, your date won't agree to your invitation. It could be because of the date or venue. Most of the time, they won't go out before an exam, although Naoji sometimes goes out on the day before the exam ^^. Remeber to SAVE. Also, when you see a bomb beside one of the girls, call her and take her out immediately before it explodes!
When you have improved your relationship enough to a guy (around level 4-5), he will take the initiative to invite you to a date. ^_^ Of course, he will set the date and venue. If you agree to the date, choose the first option. However, if you know you should take a girl out because of a bomb, you may decline the date and it won't have that heavy effect on your relationship level. ^_^
Of course there will come a time when your rival will interfere with the date! >.< When that time comes, she will ask you to change your mind and let she ahd your guy date. Choose the first option if you want them to end up together, or the second option if you want to shoo your friend away (I am still not sure about which is which, but if the girl gets the sad look on her face and the guy smiled and thanked you, that means you disapproved the suggestion to get them together).
B. Walking Home
There are times, especially when you are close to a guy, that he will invite you home. Choose the first option (Yes) and he will smile and take you home. I don't know if this raises the affection for you, but normally, it will make a guy like you more, right?^^
You also get to invite a random guy to take you home, too. The first option will make you invite a random guy to walk home while the second option will make you go home alone. If you are not that close to the guy, he won't walk home with you (unless it's Eduard, who usually goes home with you when invited 90% of the time ^^). However, it won't lower your relationship with him if he doesn't want to go home with you.
Your girlfriends sometimes invite you out for tea before going home often. Be warned also that they also invite you out for tea before they let out a bomb. Choose the first option if you want to go out to tea with them.
You also get to invite a random girlfriend home. Choose the first option to invite a random girl for tea and the second option to walk home alone. Of course, sometimes, they will reject your invitation especially when you're not that close ^^.
When you click the school icon in your main window, you will be asked to choose a school club. The translations are provided in the image. The girls and guys will have their own clubs and it is suggested that you choose the same club as your guy of interest. Also, read his profile before entering his club, since some events (like Orphe's) occur while you're not a member of the club. Don't worry. You can choose the appropriate club anytime you want. Somewhere in the middle of the semester, when your test results reaches B or A, the school headmaster will invite you to be a secretary in the Strahl Council. When this happens, you will have two clubs. Make sure you have increased your regular club points by then, since you wouldn't want to miss the delightful fanservices in the Council Room ^.~
EVENTS AND HOLIDAYS
A. Birthdays
Birthdays (occurs twice) are very important in this game, because you get to give the guys gifts! First, make sure you have read the guys' profiles to be able to unlock the gift-giving on their birthdays. A week before their birthday, you will prompted with an event allowing you to choose whether you would like to give the soon-to-be birthday person a gift or not. Choose the second option to give a gift. Another menu will be prompted allowing you to choose which gift you would want to give the celebrant.
Note: If you do not know Japanese or kanji, SAVE before choosing a gift just in case the guy did not like it. ^^;; Visit the character profiles to see more of the guys' preferred gifts.
B. Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day (occurs twice) is almost the same as birthdays. But instead of an event where you decide to give a gift or not, a menu with the guys' names will appear and you will choose which among them will you give a gift to. After that, another menu will be prompted where you will choose what to give that very lucky man. ^_^
Note: As always, SAVE before deciding what to give and make sure the one you are giving gifts to is the one you would like to win in the end!
C. Christmas
Christmas (occurs twice) is an event that you may spend with your friends, with your boyfriend (the one you're aiming for ^^) or no one. If you are close to the girls, you will celebrate the christmas party with them although you also get to meet the other guys there.
When you're close to your ideal man already, he will meet you by the gate and have you celebrate with him. However, if you are not close to the girls, a go-home event might be triggered wherein they will let you go home alone and stay up in sadness:
D. New Year's Eve
New Year's Eve is probably one of the most fun event in ML. Here, you will go to the New Year canival with your girlfriends and party.
At the stroke of midnight, you will be instructed by Wilhelmine to shout the name of the man of your dreams as the fireworks explode. You will have a menu that is composed of the guys' faces. Use the arrow keys to choose which among them you want to end up with and click the A button to confirm it. At the end of the countdown you will shout his name. This is a very critical event for some guys require their name to be shouted every New Year for you to win them.
After you shout the name of the guy you would want to end up with, he will have the Rainbow Aura around him the next time you see him. ^_^ Cute, ne?
E. New Year's Day
This event is triggered only if you have at most level 2 relationship with all the girls. After the party at the carnival the night before, you decided to go strolling somewhere. There will be a menu of places to go and if you are lucky, you will get to see one of the guys in the place you chose. ^_^ Here are the list of the places and which guy is to be found there. Click the links to see the images. ^_^

Note: You only get to see one of these places, so SAVE and LOAD if you want to see all. Triggering this event does not make you lose or gain relationship points. ^_^
F. Girls' Picnic
Sometime before/during summer, you will be invited by the girls to go to a picnic. Here, you will have the chance to know them better (kinda...).
Here, you have the chance to ask the girls what they feel about the guys. You will be prompted with a menu like the above. Choose which girl you would like to ask. First option is Wilhelmine, second is Marin, and third is August. After choosing you will again be prompted with a menu of the guys and after choosing that, too, your question for the girl will be formulated as "What do you feel about (the guy you selected in the menu)? I don't think this a really helpful even though. Marin likes everyone you ask of her, August seldom speaks a lot, and Wilhelmine likes everyone except Ludwig (but as a spoiler, you will find out she is your rival to Lui after all -.-). After you cancel the interrogation menu, you will go home.
G.School Anniversary
The School Anniversary is mainly the cradle for an event with your "loved one." All guys except Isaac have an event on school anniversary around June, so make sure you don't miss the events here!
H. Graduation
This occurs at the very last day of your game. This is the judgment time as to whether you won that man or not. xD.
Your friends mourn for your separation from each other. But don't worry, you'll see them happy soon when the dance has started. Of course if you don't win the guy, he will dance with your rival, so hold your breaths! ^_^
When you get this image and get a phonecall without clicking on the phone icon, it means a bomb has exploded. A bomb explosion will decrease your relationship with everyone drastically. Let's just see a bomb as a rumor or something that ruined your image with everyone. You must prevent the explosion of a bomb, or better, prevent having bombs in the first place.
A bomb will be exploded by one of your three girlfriends. When you check on their relationship level and you see a bomb beside their name, it means you haven't been meeting them for a while and SHOULD invite them out as soon as possible before the bomb explodes. It's very difficult to have three bombs at the same time so make sure you don't forget to take your friends out for dates. Always save your game so you can check on your relationships. ^_^
